My definittion of a friend is somewhat atypical. A friend is someone you have given the right to hurt and to comfort you. Let me elaborate on those bold words.
THE RIGHT TO HURT YOU- I let my friends throw offensive words at me, not to pull me down nor crush my self- esteem, but to keep my feet grounded at all times and to help me realize the wrong things I have been doing or about tot do. Sometimes, all we need is a little smack on the head to see things clearly. This smack on the head, which you can accept without having revenge thoughts, can only be done by those you trust and by those you see as people who understand and love you.
THE RIGHT TO COMFORT YOU- After the head- smacking, here comes the comforting. After all those harsh words, a hug,or a kiss will do the trick. These gestures will ensure you that you are truly loved, respected and accepted.
Best friends? I have a few! They give me head- smacks all the time. . . Let me introduce them to you.
I consider them as my brothers and sisters from other mothers. . . Life is boring without them. We sometimes fight, we sometimes bicker and exchange harsh words but we always see to it that we treasure our friendship.
Aside from the people in the photo above, I reserved a special space to a special person in my life, MY bestest Friend ... Guys, please meet Ping!
Ping is my backer, shock- absorber, real sister (but from another mother), confidante, yaya, tita, mother, father, spoiler, listener, teacher, target for bullying, chikadora, etc. . .
Yeah ping! I know! special space nga for you. In honor of you, with special dedication, appreciation, recognition, whatever! Ok fine!
Neh, thanks for everything! Your just- being-there for me is a big thing. Our friendship was and continues to be tested by time, fights, distance, and whatever but the sisterly love is always there. We never forget each other. Yong iba umalis na nga, at nakalimutan ang communication, here we are still, ready to comfort each other even though we're miles apart (Quezon City and Iloilo).
Remember I asked you if you could go home to attend my future wedding? OO! Future! Kasi wala pa. . . Ini-imagine ko pa lng. I'm asking you through net (OK, kung mabasa nya to, pero mas OK kung hindi nya to mabasa! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH), please be my Maid of Honor? I don't see anyone fitting that spot in my FUTURE WEDDING (yun oh! FUTURE). Di ba yong spot ng Maid of Honor is for someone lang whom you truly trust and who knows you very much? 'Yon, eh ni reserve ko na to para sayo. (PS: Ako din Maid of Honor mo ha, MALAKING JOKE!). Hindi kita pine-pressure, joke lang talaga 'yon .
16 years of friendship and still counting. . . .
So these people are my treasures, my siblings from other mothers. If you see them around, well, dont talk to them nor call them by their names. Hello! Baka magtakbohan ang mga 'yon. Hindi din kayo kasi nila kilala, tatawagin mo pa sila? Ang weird nun.
